From 14 November 2026 to 2 May 2027 the Basilica Palladiana in Vicenza hosts “Italia Germania. Pittura e scultura tra Ottocento e Novecento. Da Canova a Kiefer”. It is the first of three major exhibitions in the “Ispirazione Europa” series, devoted to the artistic ties between Italy and the great European countries.
What you will see
Around one hundred works – paintings, sculptures, photographs, works on paper and documents – tell two centuries of exchanges between Italian and German artists, from Antonio Canova to Anselm Kiefer. The exhibition is curated by Gabriella Belli and Valerio Terraroli.
The project is promoted by the City of Vicenza and organised by Marsilio Arte, with Intesa Sanpaolo as main partner, in collaboration with the Andrea Palladio International Centre for Architectural Studies and the Fondazione Teatro Comunale Città di Vicenza, with contributions from the Mart in Trento and Rovereto, the Gypsotheca Antonio Canova Museum in Possagno and the Casa di Goethe in Rome.
